Elva Laverne Smith passed away peacefully January 28, 2018, at age 89, in Spokane Washington. She was born on November 1, 1928, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Alfred and Julia-Maud Martin. Sealed for all time and eternity to her loving husband, Glen Winter Smith, on September 18, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they created a home in Los Angeles, CA and then retired in Spokane, WA after their mission. Family and Friends were always welcome in their homes. Elva was a great homemaker and entertainer. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings within the church and served a mission with her husband, Glen, in Honduras for many months. She loved her family, genealogy, cooking, sewing, needlework, crocheting, and traveling the world. She traveled around the country with kids in her RV. She loved to sit around the table and play games with family and friends. She loved adventure, new places and new people. She was curious, eager, and daring. She tried to live life to the fullest. She is survived by her children; Monica Steeves, Nola (Parley) Smith, Victor Smith, Warren (Tracey) Smith, daughter-in-law Kathy Carter, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Alfred, her husband Glen, her son Roark, and granddaughter Melissa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at 10am, at Shawnee Chapel. 5001 W Shawnee Ave, Spokane, WA 99208
