Edward Calvin Jones, 91, passed away on May 7th, 2021, after experiencing complications from a stroke. Cal was born in Racine, WI, to Edward and Emma Jones. After graduating High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. That fortuitous decision brought him to the Deep Creek Survival School at Fairchild Air Force Base. While serving his enlistment he met his wife RosaLee, during a visit to the Cheney Campus. From that initial meeting, they were rare soulmates. They were blessed to spend 65 happily married years together. Together they raised 3 children, and were an influential part in the lives of 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. When Cal worked for Rena-Ware, his 1st job after leaving the military, he learned the printing trade. From there, he worked at Litho-Art Printing, Lawton Printing, CW Hill Printing, and finally Richards Printing retiring in 1992. He could run a 4-color press before anyone else in the Spokane area. He made the plates, developed the film, and mixed the inks. When it came to his craft, he was considered one of the best in the region. Cal and RosaLee served almost 5 decades together in various capacities within the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Unit and District commissioner since 1998, which means he helped mentor and guide Pack 439 and Troop 419. He was also a committee member for 20 years. He received the District Award of Merit as well as the Silver Beaver Award (the highest volunteer award in the council). A good life gets passed on, even to the grandchildren. Papa was a wonderful and loving role model. His knowledge was vast. He was determined and self-reliant. If something wasn’t working he would study, find a solution, and fix it himself. He passed this trait onto his family and modeled that with perseverance, knowledge can be gained and problems solved. His appreciation for nature led to countless camping and snowmobile trips. Many family celebrations and holidays were spent with Papa and Ohma providing numerous memories to treasure. He provided unwavering love and support and was one of those people that we could always count on. Our dad and grandfather is now at rest, reunited with his beloved RosaLee. We will hold them both dear in our hearts forever. Cal was preceded into the afterlife by his wife RosaLee and brother Wayne. He will be lovingly remembered by his 3 children sons: Ed, Alan, and daughter Leeann (Scott). He will also be remembered fondly by his eight grandchildren: Jessica, Cayce, Carson, Shane, Austin, Mikaela, Bryce, Brayden, and great grandchild Ruger, by his sister Vivian, and also numerous nieces and nephews.
