Dianne J. O’Neil, 83, of Nine Mile Falls, Washington, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on June 27, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dutra (SMSGT USAF), her daughter, Maureen O’Neil Miller, her sister, Mary Dorrbecker, and her parents, George and Rita Dorrbecker. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa O’Neil (Jack) Lavallet and Colleen O’Neil (Michael) Judd, her sons, Daniel O’Neil and Patrick O’Neil, and a sister, Judy Dorrbecker. She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved.
Dianne was born in Bayonne, New Jersey and raised in Iselin, New Jersey. She was educated at Saint Peter’s School of Nursing and Jersey City State College as a registered nurse and teacher. Early in her career she was employed as a nurse at Woodbridge State Hospital, and as a school nurse/teacher at Middlesex County Public Schools.
Dianne enjoyed community service and was elected to a term serving on the Woodbridge Board of Education. She also served a term as committee-woman for a political party.
Dianne moved with her family to Washington State in 1979. There, she was employed as a manager of the Deaconess Hospital Poison Control Center and served as a volunteer for the Suncrest volunteer fire department. She spent the later part of her career as a psychiatric nurse/counselor at the Community Health Center. She retired from her final job, serving veterans on a national award-winning mental health team, at the VA Medical Center in Spokane.
Dianne’s favorite pastime was traveling around the world and her favorite place to visit was Hawaii. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She made a mean cheesecake and goulash. She was a woman who did not stop fighting for the people and principles she believed in. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving the Lord in various ministries with a very caring group of brothers and sisters in Christ. She will be greatly missed.
Her final resting place is at Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington. In her honor, please support and remember our Veterans.
