Age 64
Dean passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Spokane, WA. He was born on September 21, 1952 in Spirit Lake, ID to Donald E. Satchwell and Dorothy P. (Simpson) Satchwell.
Dean grew up on the family farm on the Rathdrum Prairie at Post Falls, ID. He graduated from Post Falls, ID High School. Dean enjoyed years of farming, but his chosen profession was to become a peace officer. He attended numerous certified law enforcement courses throughout his 32 year career in Washtucna, Ritzville, and Othello with the Adams County (WA) Sheriff’s Department. After retirement, Dean worked at the Bonners Ferry (ID) Police Department and the Boundary County and Bonner County (ID) Sheriff’s Department. While living in Fairbanks, AK he worked at the Sportsman Warehouse and Yukon Title.
Dean married Janet C. Camp in Cheney, WA and they recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. Dean enjoyed skiing, hunting and fishing, “do-it-yourself” projects, photography, making intarsia wood projects for family and friends, picking huckleberries, and hiking and taking drives in the mountains.
He is survived by his spouse Janet of Oakesdale, WA; his mother Dorothy Satchwell of Post Falls, ID; siblings Donald R. (Terri) Satchwell of Marlton, NJ, Donna (Robert) Felgenhauer of Oakesdale, WA; DeImna (Mark) Heiken of Fort Benton, MT; in-laws Richard and Mary Ellen Camp of Spangle, WA, Carolyn (Allen) Dyer, Simi Valley, CA; two nieces, five nephews, and several grand -nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his father Donald E. Satchwell and his grandparents.
A Celebration of Dean’s Life will be held at Spokane Co. Fire District 3, Station 31 at 10 S. Presley Dr., Cheney, WA on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at 1:30 pm. Our families request you pay tribute to Dean by holding the door open for other people, showing up to help others with projects large and small, driving without distractions, and living your life with wisdom and compassion. Thank you Dean, we honor your pride, integrity, and guts.
