David Lewis Wellington was born March 29, 1942 in Spokane, WA to Floyd and Charlotte (Gladys) Wellington. He graduated from Robert Lee High School and went on to earn his degree in Composite Drafting from Columbia Technical Institute, Washington DC.
David was united in marriage to Phyllis Cyr on March 16, 1973 in Springfield, VA. They lived in Spokane, WA and Liberty Lake, WA, raising their three children. He loved singing, playing guitar, playing cards (especially winning), camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with friends and family. He was a great carpenter and could build anything he put his mind to. He loved his dogs, and even though their size grew smaller over the years, his love for them never did. Family always came first and he had too many friends to count.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis of 43 years, his sons, Troy Wellington (Kathleen), David Patch (Betty) and Eric Wellington (Lisa); 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home (1306 N. Pines RD., Spokane Valley, WA 99206) on Friday, June 19, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 20 at 9:00 a.m. with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Jim Hoggatt will be officiating with special reading by Pastor Darrell Bixby; guitarist will be Troy Wellington, and Beckie Blythe as vocalist.
Interment will be at the Saltese Cemetery (E 32nd Ave Greenacres, WA 99016) following the service. Pallbearers will be Troy Wellington, David Patch, Eric Wellington, Ronald Countryman, Jim Blythe and Don Falk. Grave side service conducted by Pastor Dave Farmer.
