We lost our beloved Grandpa on September 22, 2014. He was born in Minneapolis, MN. He received his Federal Communications Commission in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army as a broadcast journalist during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged April 1st, 1973. He attended San Diego State University in CA, and Lewis & Clark College in OR. His proudest educational accomplishment was when he graduated, with Honors, from Gonzaga University with a Bachelors of Arts & Sciences in 1978.
In 2002, he retired from GTE after 18 yrs of service. He had received numerous merits & awards for outstanding sales and service. He was an Eagle Scout and served as Cub Master for his grandson’s troop in 1977.
He was an avid fan of G.U. Men’s Basketball and Seattle Mariners Baseball, rarely missing a game. He often spoke of his fondest childhood memories spent at the lake house in MN. In his later years, he made a valiant effort to return each summer. He would invite everyone for a fabulous taco feast while visiting family, friends, and fishing for walleye.
In his spare time, David enjoyed traveling and taking his family on vacation. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, and watching classic 50’s & 60’s movies but most importantly his life was dedicated to his wife Joan, and their family of which he had shown unconditional love.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicky (husband Joseph) Scimone; brother Jose’ (wife Aixa) Rueda; three grandchildren, Shawn Weigel, Victor (wife Metta) Rizzo, and Deena Cornelius; six great-grandchildren, Tera, Giovanna and Kairee Weigel, Victoria Rizzo, Angelo and Meena Cornelius; and four great-great-grandchildren, Cierra and Myles Lindquist, Brooklyn Fuerte, and Kendall West.
