He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on August 18, 1947. He spent boyhood years in Rapid City, South Dakota. His family moved to Ashland, Oregon in 1956. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1965. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966 served during the Vietnam War in Brussels, Belgium at the S.H.A.P.E. Headquarters where he lived with his wife, Laurie and son, Garrett. After the service he attended Southern Oregon College and graduated with an Accounting degree. David and his family moved to Spokane in 1974. He worked as an accountant for LeMasters and Daniels and later as an assistant treasurer at the Farm Credit Bank in downtown Spokane. In 1982, Dave and Laurie opened Interzine, an interior design business. Laurie died after a long struggle with cancer in 1993. He met and married Pat Sharp in 1995 and joined her in her business, Neuroeducation.
David is survived by his wife of 17 years, Pat Sharp Brown, his son Garrett and wife Michele, and their five children: Shea, Amanda, Teagan, Kelly, and Lukas, his mother, Sandy Brown, two sisters Pati (Mike) and Karen, her daughter Teresa (Dave) and sons: Brad, Travis, and Hayden. Also by his two stepsons, Charles Sharp and his wife Joy, Jon Sharp and his wife Jen and their three sons: Jack, Nick, and Ben.
David is preceded in death by his father, Carroll Brown, his nephews Mark, Jason, and niece Lisa.
