Carole Joann Ries

Carole was born on July 10, 1942 in Sundance, WY and was the fifth of fourteen children. Her family moved to the Spokane area when she was a child. She graduated from Riverside high school class of 1960. She married on January 7, 1961 to Robert P. Ries, had four boys before divorcing in 1978. She was a homemaker, secretary, house keeper and worked for the Catholic Church before retiring.

Carole’s greatest joys were family, friends and her Catholic faith. She loved music and spent many hours perfecting Beethoven’s Fur Elise on the piano. ;) She enjoyed sewing, quilting with friends and spending time working with her church groups. In 2002 Carole was able to reunite with the son she gave up for adoption as a young woman. A reunion that helped to heal a long broken heart.

Carole was survived by her children, Christopher (Cindy) Warila; Steven (Michelle) Ries; Paul (Melissa) Ries; Darrel (Angela) Ries and John Ries. Siblings, Monica (Dennis) Schillinger, Marilyn (Jack) Ries, Patricia Robertson, Kathleen Herrmann, Michael DesJarlais, Lorelei (Kenneth) Ries, Joseph DesJarlais, Renee DesJarlais, Jacqueline DesJarlais, Gregory DesJarlais along with eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marguerite DesJarlais and her brothers Jean DesJarlais, James “Jerry” DesJarlais and Edmond “Ed” DesJarlais.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday February 4th at 1:30PM, at St. John Vianney Church located at 503 N. Walnut St. Spokane Valley, WA. 99206. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. John Vianney Church.
