Beverly Bev A. Sharp

Beverly "Bev" went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 6, 2011, after a courageous, ten-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Bev was born on February 22, 1942, in Grant, Nebraska, to Delbert and Virginia Sands. Her family moved to the Tigard area, then settled in the Clyde area of Eastern Washington. Bev, along with her three sisters, was raised on a wheat farm where there was always plenty of work to do. After graduating from Prescott High School in 1960, Bev attended Washington State University for a year and a half, then married her high school sweetheart, John Sharp, in 1961. After John graduated from WSU, the newlyweds moved to wherever John’s job took them. They finally settled on Spokane’s South Hill in 1973.

Bev loved her family, her friends, and her flowers. She spent countless hours tending her flower beds, her vegetable garden, as well as the church grounds at Manito United Methodist Church. Bev also loved to watch her grandchildren participate in their sports and activities, and looked forward to spending time every July at Cannon Beach, Oregon, with her family. Everyone whose life Bev touched knew her as a warm, caring, and compassionate person. She will be deeply missed by all.

Bev is survived by her husband of 50 years, John, and children Lisa (Kelvin) Strehlou and Brett (Sonja) Sharp, both of the Spokane Valley, and Karen (Jason) Garrood of Mukilteo, Washington; five grandchildren; three sisters, Bonnie Fontana of Fontana, California, Claudia Landis of Wilsonville, Oregon, and Debbie Fosnot (Ray) of Waitsburg, Washington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, November 11, from 2 to 8 PM at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe, Spokane. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, at 11 AM at Manito United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Manito United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. A very special thank you goes out to Dr. Steven Anthony and his wonderful staff at Evergreen Hematology and Oncology Clinic and to Providence Holy Family Hospital’s Oncology Floor for all that you have done for Bev and her family.
