Betty E. Reed

Betty was born January 1, 1920, in Ritzville, WA. She was one of five children born to Alex and Sophia Rehn. Betty graduated from Sprague High School in 1938.

Betty was married to Harold Walter Jones from 1941 through 1955. After moving to Spokane, Betty married the love of her life, Vett Reed, where they continued to live until his death in 1980. She was employed by Old National Bank at the old Shadle Park mall for 19 years before retiring in 1980.

Betty is survived by her son, Walter “Pete” Jones of Phoenix; daughter, Georgia Jones Cassell of Airway Heights; Vett’s children, Rodney, Phyllis, and Dennis Reed; and grandsons, Bradley Dean Cassell of Otis Orchards, Jeffrey Carl (Amber) Cassell of Nine Mile Falls, and Brian Harold Jones of Phoenix. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Dustin Carl Cassell, Adrian Dane Shaffer (son of Amber Cassell), Bryce Allen and Tanner Dean Cassell (twin sons of Bradley Cassell) and their sister, Jillynn Sue Cassell; brother, Frank “Sonny” (Myrna) Rehn of Spokane Valley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vett Reed; an infant son, James Frederick Jones; and three brothers, Ronald, Bud, and Walter Rehn.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 2:30 PM at Advent Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway, Spokane Valley. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Church Fellowship Hall. Viewing will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe, Spokane, on Friday, December 16, 2011, from 3-8 PM, and on Saturday, December 17, from 9 AM to 12 noon. A private family interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace prior to the memorial service.
