Beatrice A. Peterson

Passed away with her loving husband and two of her daughters by her side on January 10th at Avalon Care Center. Bea was born on March 20, 1923 in Coeur d’Alene, ID, the only child of Felix Voiten and Clara Barker who preceded her in death. The family settled in Spokane and Bea graduated from North Central H.S. in 1941. She worked as a waitress at the Caravan Inn and Casey’s during the 40’s, 50’s and early 60’s. She married David Stickels in 1941 and had 4 children; Gayle, David, Richard and Claire. Her first husband, David, died in 1961. Bea then married Sven Peterson in 1962 and had one child, Janet. Bea was the crossword puzzle queen and was a faithful Mariners fan along with other area sports. She also enjoyed fishing with Sven in her earlier years. Bea proudly resided in the same house she had built for her in 1947 on W. Providence until her congestive heart failure worsened and sent her to Avalon this fall. She is preceded in death by her sons Richard in 2007 and David in 2008, and survived by her husband of 49 years Sven, daughters Gayle Duncan (Aloha Oregon), Claire Lawson and Janet Peterson, and daughter in law Tillie Stickels all of Spokane, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many cousins. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 21st @ 2:00pm at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home.
