Age 79
Barbara (Goodwin) Thomas passed away on May 9, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born June 16, 1935 to James & Mary Goodwin in Spokane, WA. She was the oldest of their 3 children, and except for a couple of brief times, she always made her home in Spokane. Barbara married the love of her life F.R. “Dick” Thomas on June 4, 1954 and they enjoyed 60 wonderful years of marriage. Dick preceded her in death on December 14, 2014. She stayed home with the kids for many years, but eventually went back to work for Alvin J. Wolff Realtors. She worked for many years and eventually retired to enjoy retirement years with Dad.
The family enjoyed camping and some of our best family memories centered around our camping trips to Englishman River on Vancouver Island and Honeyman State Park on the Oregon Coast. Once they became empty nesters, Mom and Dad shared their love of camping by taking the grandkids on camping trips – the grandkids have awesome memories of Beaver Lodge, Banks Lake, the mopeds, and singing silly songs. Mom and Dad also enjoyed snowmobiling every winter. They just waited for that snow to fly, and they were off! They made so many wonderful friends and had such great memories of their time in the snow.
Barbara is survived by her three children, Steve (Cindy) Thomas, Debbie Jesperson and Julie (Tim) Smith, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Kathy Meyers.
A Memorial Service to honor Barbara’s life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd. Spokane Valley, WA at 2:00pm.
