Alexander Burgess was born to James and Mary Burgess in Brooklyn, NY. The family moved to Laurinburg, North Carolina where he graduated from Scottland High School. After graduation, Alex entered the US Army, and served eight years as E4 Specialist Clerk. His last station was Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. While there he met his wife, Bonnie. They moved to Spokane, WA in 1989 and Alex returned to ITT Technical School and received his drafting degree. He worked for Hewlett Packard for 10 years. In 1990 Alex started his own lawn care business and continued his passion until his passing.
His favorite past times were boating, fishing, and traveling. His favorite hobby and passion was helping the elderly in the community.
Alex is survived by his wife, Bonnie Burgess, of Spokane, WA; three children, Kimberly Edwards McCray and her husband Jeff, Rachel Burgess Trevino and her husband Darrell of Virginia Beach, VA, and James Burgess of Spokane, WA; brother Daniel Burgess and wife Katherine; sister Deborah Burgess Woolridge of Fayetteville, NC; aunts Lillian Robinson of Ohio, and Teresa Belcher of New York; nephews Jermaine Dockery, Anthony Burgess, Robert Woolridge, and Dwayne Woolridge; grandchildren Darious Trevino, Devlynd Trevino, Kemari Edwards, Eli and Alexandria McCray, Legendary Edwards McCray, and Kei'ara Edwards McCray; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws, aunts and uncles
