Steven Edward Vessels (67) was born in Louisville, Kentucky on June 27, 1954 to Donnie and Nettie Christine Vessels. Steve was the fourth child of six siblings in his family. His brothers and sisters include Joanne, Tommie, Larry, Kerry, and Kenny Vessels. Steve’s mother, father, and older siblings all preceded him in death before his passing. Steve graduated from Washington State University with a degree in business. He was proud of the fact that he lived above The Coug during his years at WSU. After college, he was an IT/Software Sales Representative for his entire career before becoming ill. Steve met his loving wife Jodi (Smith) Vessels in Spokane, WA during the summer of 1987. They were married on March 31, 1990 in Spokane Valley, WA. Steve and Jodi had been happily married for over 32 years until he passed. Steve loved the water, one of his most favorite places on earth was the Oregon Coast. He was also a golfer, boater, college sports enthusiast (Cougs and Zags super fan), animal lover, gabber (loved to chat with everyone), reader, history buff, coach, cook, tomato grower, and best all-around dad. Steve loved hanging out with his family most of all, with his greatest accomplishment being his two boys. Steve dealt bravely with brain cancer for over three courageous years, however he was tired. He fought the good fight, keeping a positive attitude, with dignity and grace. His struggle is now over and he is free. We are going to miss Steve’s cup half-full way of thinking, his gentle nature, and his hardy belly laugh. Steve is lovingly survived by his wife Jodi, and his two amazing sons Sam Steven Vessels and Max Marvin Vessels, all of Spokane Valley, WA. Steve is also survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers-in-law who all loved him dearly. Steve’s family will cherish his memory and caring spirit forever. Steve passed peacefully in his sleep on the morning of May 13th, 2022 at the Hospice House (South) with his wife Jodi at his side. A Memorial Service for Steve will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 in the chapel at Millwood Community Presbyterian (3223 N. Marguerite Road) at 4:30 pm. Contributions in Steve’s memory may be made to The Hospice House (South)- 367 E. 7th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99202; and the American Cancer Society (amp.cancer.org). Steve’s family thanks you for continued prayers and support. “It’s all part of life’s great adventure.” ♡
