He passed peacefully at the comfort of the Hospice House with family surrounding him throughout his battle of pancreatic cancer.
Steve was born July 26, 1957 to Ralph and Helen Collins. As a young boy, he was a member of the Percussion-Naut drum and bugle corp. Steve had the opportunity to perform in a number of events throughout the inland empire, Klondike days in Edmonton Canada and the drum corps’ first European tour.
Steve graduated from University High School in 1975 and attended WSU and Spokane Falls Community College. As he started his family, he was employed at Valley Garbage until he injured his back and then completed his employment as a pharmacy technician at Hart and Dilatush.
Steve was an avid hunter and loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed attending and critiquing his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Oregon Coast was a favorite vacation spot that Steve shared for several years with his family. Steve and Kathy often relaxed at the local breweries and traveled to many tribal casinos as well as Vegas together. Also, Steve’s baking skills never went unnoticed as friends and family requested his delicious dishes and he was always happy to deliver.
Steve leaves behind his wife Kathy of 44 years, his daughter Sarah (JD) McCullough, his oldest son Travis (Malina) Collins and youngest son Craig (Sarah) Collins. He was so very proud of his five grandchildren Jaydon (18), Colston (14), Addisyn (13), TJ (13) and Weston (11). Steve is survived by his brother Bob Collins, sisters, Claudia (John) Ebel and Peg Collins and his youngest brother Tony (Traci) Collins and sister-in-law Janet Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Randy Collins.
Steve will truly be missed and a huge hole in all of our hearts will be felt for years to come.
