Russell Jay Koontz

Russell is survived by his mother, Grace Stumpff, and step-father, Kenneth Stumpff; his daughters Jamie Koontz and Jaycee Magee; his 4 grandchildren Chase Wahrer, Ivan Skripnik, Addison Magee and Gracie Magee; siblings Rick Huff, Ed Huff, Leona Reed, Joe Koontz, Tom Haugh, Laura Newsom; his fiancé Tracy Ward and her children, Jen Metcalf and Kari Lee.

Russell was a former Captain in the Marine Corp, served honorably from 1987 – 1995, including Desert Storm. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, camping and also riding motorcycles. Russell was a true outdoorsman and an all around handyman.

A service will be held on Wednesday, June 12th beginning at 10:30 a.m. (viewing at 9:00 a.m.) at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N Pines Road Spokane Valley. Followed by a burial service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W Espanola Road Medical Lake 99022.

A celebration of life will occur on Saturday, June 15th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 5603 N. Forker Spokane, WA 99216. This will be held as a potluck gathering. Please bring a food dish, drink and folding chair.
