Roy Allen McManamon was released from his long battle with dementia on October 19, 2022 with his daughter by his side. He was born in Tekoa, Washington above the gas station, which may have influenced his lifelong love of anything with a motor.
After the passing of his father at the age of 9, he was raised by his grandfather on University Rd in the Spokane Valley. This is where he met the girl across the street Shirley Dahlen. They were together during all of their school years, and after graduating from Central Valley High School were married.
Roy began working at the filling station down the street as a mechanic, and often talked about how treacherous it was driving wrecker on the Lewiston Grade. Through his mechanic journey he partnered with many people. Eventually partnering and forming Ray & Roy's Auto Repair where he retired from, and handed the business over to his son Ron.
He and Shirley loved to travel driving to all but 4 states. His favorite being the Washington coast where he took annual trips to the Kite Festival with his grandchildren tagging along. He loved his man toys, owning cars, boats, travel trailers, a camper, motorcycles, and snowmobiles, which created lots of fun times with his children and grandchildren. His last years were spent at Community Pride Senior Living where he received the best care possible.
He is survived by his son Dennis (Joyce) McManamon, daughter Cheryl McManamon, and son Ron (Kaye) McManamon. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Luke (Cassandra) McManamon, Craig McManamon, Kimberly (Zach) Collingham, Kati (Will) Whitlow, Travis McManamon, and Lance Knoles (Gabriell Baldwin). As well as numerous Great-Grandchildren and extended family.
