Born on April 10, 1938, in Laramie, Wyoming, to Homer and Martha Stumbough, Ron’s journey brought him to the Spokane area during the height of World War II. He proudly graduated from Cheney High School, Spokane Falls Community College, and Eastern Washington State College (now University). His dedication to service shone brightly through his time in the Marines, Reserves, and Washington Air National Guard, showcasing his unwavering patriotism.
Ron wore many hats throughout his life—farmer, carpenter, draftsman, and engineer. He dedicated 30 years to Wagstaff Inc., retiring in 2003. In his later years, he found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, tending to his garden, and crafting beautiful pieces in his woodworking shop.
Ron was cherished and admired by his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 57 years, Susan; his children, Julie and Douglas (Linda); his grandchildren, Katianne (Jamie), Samuel, Emma, Grace, and Jack; and his great-grandchildren, Evan, Audrey, Della, Theo, and Liam. He is also survived by his brother, Bernie (Donna) Stumbough. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lyla, and his brothers Neil and Barry.
A service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S Pines, Spokane Valley, with a graveside service to follow. Ron’s life was a testament to loyalty, love, and family, leaving a lasting legacy on all who knew him.
