side Neil was born in Bonesteel, South Dakota to Harlow and Viora Simpson. As a young boy his family
moved to the Spokane area where he attended school, later he attended school in Newport,
Washington where he met his wife, Nina Oscarson.
Neil was proud of his service at U.S. Naval Air Station Alameda, California. After the Navy , he returned
to Spokane. His talent in drafting and design led him to American Sign and Indicator where he advanced
to sales and made many lifelong friends. He later became Owner/Operator of his trucking business and
enjoyed working with the crews at Peterbilt and Central Premix.
Neil had may interests over the years, Airplanes (he had his pilot license), Arabian show horses, race
horses, raising cattle, commercial salmon fishing, antique cars, German Shepherd dogs, gardening, and
sorting and organizing things in his garage (his family teased that he had a box labeled “pieces of string to
short to save”).
Neil was preceded in death by his son, Brian. Parents Harlow and Viora. Brothers Allen and Donnie.
He is survived by his wife Nina, children Neil Jr, Pam, and Greg. Sister Kathy. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
