Marion Laura Taylor (age 99) of Spokane Valley, Washington passed away on November 17, 2024. Marion was born on July 30, 1925 in Missoula, Montana. She graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane in June 1944. Marion’s first job was at a dry cleaners shop on Washington Street and she completed her working career as a cook at West Valley High School. In December 1944 Marion married Herbert Skaufel and the couple had three children. She was a Cub Scout den mother, Camp Fire leader, 4-H leader and a Voting Precinct captain for many years and also served on the Women’s Auxiliary Board for the Union Gospel.
Marion enjoyed gardening, canning, and freezing the produce and selling the excess to pay for the kid’s school clothes. She also enjoyed crafting, doing cross-stitch, embroidery, and crocheting. Later she became well known for her hand made greeting cards. Mom was dedicated and hard-working. She always put family first.
Marion is survived by her children: Neal Skaufel (Joann), Gayle Liberty (Randy), Wayne Skaufel (Sharon) and 10 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Herb and her brother Fred Taylor. She was the last of her family’s generation.
A celebration of Life is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Waypoint Church (formerly Berean Bible Church) located at 10910 E. Boone Ave, Spokane Valley.
The family would like to thank the residents and special staff members at Broadway Court Estates for loving on her for 14 years (and allowing her to run the games and show)!
