Marie passed away peacefully at Hospice House on February 3, 2012. She had a great capacity to remember the words of many, many songs and she spent her last week singing, laughing and being surrounded in love by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born in San Francisco, California on January 12, 1926 and graduated from San Leandro High School with honors. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Charles F. Atkins, Jr., her grandson Tony Atkins and her son Richard C. Atkins. She is survived by her son, Thomas Atkins and her daughters Marlene Cummings, Cheryle Fisher, Patricia Fraser, Merry Taylor, Kathryn Atkins, Allison Atkins, 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Orchard Crest Assisted Living, Sullivan Park Care Center and Hospice House of Spokane for the wonderful and compassionate care she received.
