Our beloved mother, Lois Beverley Robinson, 85, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, in Liberty Lake, Washington. She battled Alzheimer's disease for the last several years. Lois was born to Stan and Eileen Stephenson on August 12, 1939, in Trail, British Columbia, Canada, where she was raised and attended high school. With her family, she moved to Spokane, WA at the age of 16 where she started working at Cominco American. It was there she met the love of her life, Gary Robinson. Gary and Lois were married in 1958 and raised three children, Mark, Joanne, and Sandra, primarily in Spokane, WA, except for four enjoyable years in Garrison, MT.
Lois’ love for her family was immeasurable. She dedicated much of her life to her husband and children as a homemaker, always cooking, cleaning, running someone to a ball game, orthodontist appointment, or school event. As the kids grew older, she worked part-time in retail and later as a beautician. Her skilled hands were not only evident in her work but also in her hobbies. Lois was an avid quilter and actively participated in her church's quilting group, gifting the majority of her beautifully crafted quilts to family and others in need. Her love for the outdoors was expressed through regular fishing and camping trips with family at Bull Lake, Montana and other favorite destinations, where she would revel in the preparation of wonderful meals shared and facilitating family cribbage games. She even taught each of her seven grandchildren to play cribbage when they turned nine years old. These activities brought great joy and peace to her life.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Spokane Valley, where she found a further sense of community, donating her time to assisting at several church functions and activities.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gary Robinson. She is survived by a loving family: her brother Lorne Stephenson (Faye); her children, Mark Robinson (Anne), Joanne Wilkinson, and Sandra Murray (Brad); her grandchildren, Matthew Murray, Hailey Bibby (Louis), Spencer Wilkinson, William Wilkinson, Tessa Clark (Tommy), Bridger Robinson, and Claire Robinson; and her great-granddaughter, Kennedy Bibby.
Lois will be remembered for her generous and kind spirit, her dedication to her family and community, and her witty sense of humor, which brought beauty and warmth into the lives of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and caring that will be forever cherished by all who knew her.
Special thanks to the staff at Guardian Angel Homes and Hospice of Spokane for the excellent care provided for our mother, especially in her final days.
Services for Lois will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8304 E Buckeye Ave, Spokane, WA, at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 26th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online at Hospice of Spokane https://secure.qgiv.com/for/wsa3ni in memory of Lois Beverley Robinson.
