Lennie Blaine Gregory passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord from kidney failure with the love of her family all around her. Her life was full of grace and devotion, always putting others first with her love and support, inspiring and guiding the family to bring them together.
She was born July 14, 1927 in Hay Springs, Nebraska to her father, Leonard B. Lee and mother, Mary Iona Lee (Braley).
She met the love of her life, Thomas R. Gregory, and started their 61 year journey together on September 4, 1953 in Rapid City, South Dakota. While Tom served his country in the Air Force for 28 years, Lennie served her family, raising three children with love and strength, while Tom and the family were stationed all over the country as well as Germany. While she always put her husband and family first, she managed to serve 27 years in the Civil Service including Washington DC, the Air Force Survival School and the Resource Management office at Fairchild AFB.
She also loved to stay busy by teaching Cake Decorating, making fabulous quilts, and various other crafts.
After Tom retired from the Air Force in 1976, they moved to Spokane, WA and he began his second career at Safeco Insurance with Lennie doing what she did best, keeping the family on track with her quiet strength. She helped her children grow up and marry wonderful people and welcomed four wonderful grandchildren to the world. For the last few years, she delighted in getting everyone together and sharing stories of their jobs, their families, or the latest sporting event. She loved to eat out with Tom, talk for hours with her daughter Debby, or check in with sons Dave and Mark about her grandchildren.
She is being remembered by her husband, Thomas R. Gregory Jr., her daughter, Deborah S. Achten, son David L. Gregory and his wife Nancy and grandchildren Ryan and Wendy, Mark D. Gregory and his wife Robin and grandchildren Corinne and Aubrey, all living in the Spokane Valley. Also celebrating her life are Eugene and Peggy Gregory, of Benton, Kentucky as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is being welcomed home to Heaven by her parents Leonard and Mary Iona, sister Mary Lou (Dalton), and son-in-law Ronald Achten.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Spokane and we thank them for their support.
