

Leah Alma Jeske was born on October 7, 1922. Leah was the second child of six. She had four brothers and one sisters. She graduated from high school in 1940. Entered EWSC and studied teaching.
Because of the war going on in Europe she graduated in three years on an accelerated program. She earned her teaching certificate and taught 5/6 grade in Chelan area for 4 years. She married Wilbert E. Goehner in 1943 whom she met in the middle of Goose Lake, Washington.
In 1954 Leah and Will moved to Spokane. She obtained a position in West Valley School District in 1955 teaching first grade. She earned her BA in elementary education in 1961. She continued teaching at West Valley School District for 31 years, teaching first and second grade. She retired in 1986.
As a member of Millwood Presbyterian church she joined in many activities such as women’s club, bible studies, hand crafters and sewing circles. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and volunteered at schools to listen to the children read.
After Will’s death in 1989 she went on many travel adventures with church friends and her brothers and sister. When she became too feeble to live at home she moved to a care facility where she lived for 4 ½ years. She past away on April 13, 2025 at the young age of 102 ½ years .
Leah is survived by three sons, Paul Goehner of Dunmore, West Virginia, Randy (Barb) Goehner of Spokane, and Keith Goehner of Kittitas, as well as 4 grand children and 2 great grand children.
Memorial service to be held on May 3, 2025 at Millwood Presbyterian Church at 1:00 PM. In place of flowers, friends are encouraged to donate to MPC memorials fund.
