

Kristine Y Motoyoshi passed away on Saturday October 16, 2010. She went peacefully at Sacred Heart Medical Center surrounded by family. She was born in Grand Junction, CO to Sam and Doris Matsumoto. She grew up in Denver, CO and graduated from Adams City High School. She attended Colorado Women’s College and later became a stewardess for Western Airlines. She married her husband, Den Motoyoshi, on April 7, 1972. They moved to Spokane in 1977 where entered the legal community as a legal secretary. They soon started their family by adopting a son, Steven, in 1980 and then daughter, Jennifer, in 1981. She was very passionate about everything she did. She was president of the Spokane Legal Secretaries Association in 1982. She became very active in the Walk to Emmaus movement, taking on several roles in that community. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, and skiing. She was a lover of dogs and has rescued several over the years. She was a very big fan of the Star Trek series. Her real passion, however was the game of Bridge. She began playing at an early age and played with her father in many duplicate tournaments. She left the game while raising her two children, but came back to Tournament Bridge and earned her Life Master designation in 2000. She was a Bridge club director and held three duplicate games a week. She began teaching Bridge and became active in the American Bridge Teachers Association. She served two years as the president of this organization in 2008 and 2009. She is survived by her husband, Den Motoyoshi, son, Steven, daughter, Jennifer, sister, Paula Matsumoto, and brother, Sam Matsumoto. A funeral will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church on Thursday October 21, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Spokane, WA.
