When she was 6 years-old, Karen’s parents, Anthony and Francis Popp, moved their family to Spokane, WA. There, she grew up with her sister and two brothers, Connie, Jerry, and Tony. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High school in 1960 where she met her ex-husband, Ronald M. Little. Following their marriage in 1963, she pursued further education at Kinman Business University, and then worked as a bookkeeper for Camp Chevrolet. She later, with her sister-in-law, started the first ice cream truck business in Spokane. After her children were raised, she worked at United Specialties Advertising, helping with business operations, and volunteered at Children’s Home Society of Washington.
Karen had the first of four children in 1963, and enjoyed raising a loving family. Her time was gladly spent with her kids, helping them with school projects, teaching them to bake cookies and cakes (typically making a big mess of the kitchen), and mend their little boo-boo’s when they would play too rough. She was always there for them, whether they needed financial support, a good hot meal, some kind words, or to cry on her shoulder.
Karen was always friendly and outgoing, easily making new friends. Additionally, she was devoutly religious, enjoying fellowship with her many friends. She was a very kind soul and will be sorely missed by all.
She is survived by her sister, Connie Brickert, younger brother, Tony Popp, ex-husband, Ronald Little, four children, David, Daniel, Duane, and Darla (the four D’s), their spouses, Jacquie, Jennifer and Jamie, and five grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her father, Anthony Popp, mother, Francis Popp (maiden name Lauren), and her younger brother, Jerry Popp.
Services will be held at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home (1306 N. Pines Rd) on Friday April 8th, at 11:30am. A small reception will follow with coffee and snack food. Burial will follow at 2:30pm at the Spokane Memorial Gardens (5909 S. Cheney-Spokane Rd).
