It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our father John David Dreiske on April 29th 2021 after his courageous battle with cancer. John was born April 26th 1947 to Edwin (Gordon) and Helen Dreiske, he was raised on their family farm in Keldron SD. He is survived in death by his children; David (Linda) Dreiske, their children Bradly and Lauralee, Megan (Nelson) Dreiske their son Ethan, and Kaitlin (Zack) Booth, their children Kloe and Trystan, as well as his youngest brother Tom (Mary Ann) Dreiske.
John was a truck driver for almost 50 years and was able to travel most of the country in his semi. When Kaitlin was little she enjoyed spending time with him on the road. In 2004, John lost his wife Linda to cancer, shortly afterwards he moved back to South Dakota to be closer to his brothers and eldest son David. While living in South Dakota, Johns eldest grandson Ethan came to visit every year during the summer months, John taught him how to shoot a rifle, drive a combine on the farm and they collected miniature toy tractors together. John found joy in many things, every year he would make time to go hunting with his younger brother Tom Dreiske and their friends. John took pride in his green thumb, spending hours to ensure a verdant lawn. When Kaitlin and Megan were growing up he tended several beautiful rose gardens for his wife Linda in their family home. John always enjoyed imparting this wisdom on his son in law Zack Booth whom he loved very much.
John is preceded in death by his wife Linda Dreiske (2004), parents Gordon (Helen) Dreiske (1999, 2000), his brothers Randy Dreiske (2006) and Don Dreiske (2019). He will be greatly missed by many but had an impact on all those who met him. Services for our father will be held in June at Oak Park in Whitewood South Dakota.
