James N. Potts Jr. was born in 1961 in Osburn, Idaho to James Sr. and Mary Potts. The family moved to Spokane in 1966. Jim took his first construction job at age 12 and took every opportunity to learn the trade. He graduated from West Valley High School in 1979. He married his wife Debbie in 1982 and was a devoted husband and father. Jim excelled in a 25-year management career with Appleway Automotive Group. He enjoyed construction all his life and retired early in 2008 to pursue his dream of building houses. He lived his “retirement” to the fullest, building five beautiful houses and remodeling countless others in the Spokane and Colville areas. Jim loved to work, and as one young grandson said he “taught us all how to work harder than we should”.
Jim loved time in the woods camping and cutting firewood, and hunting with his dad and his son. He didn’t waste words and he would show up to help any friend in need. He is survived by parents Jim Sr. and Mary, wife Debbie, siblings Jeannie (Bob), Joe (Jenny), Judy (Ric), children Marcus (Melanie) and Stacee, grandchildren Wyatt, Grace, and Bennett and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by daughter Katie and nephew Ben.
A Memorial will be held at Calvary Spokane on Wednesday, October 16th at 11:30.
