Ione Wright Wells passed away January 17, 2023 at Windriver Assisted Living Facility of natural causes. Her daughter, Tina, and son-in-law Pat, were with her when she took her last breath and went home to be with loved ones on the other side of the veil. Ione was born on May 5, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to Norma and Joseph Wright, now deceased. She grew up with two older siblings, Louise and Mae, both now deceased, and had many adventures and laughs with them at various stages of their lives. Ione met and married the love of her life, Bennie, in Farmington, Utah on October 6, 1950.
Bennie was in the United States Air Force and so they traveled during their married life and their travels included Texas, Utah, California, Washington, and Guam. They returned to Fairchild AFB where Bennie retired and they spent their remaining years living in Airway Heights. Bennie passed away on February 12, 2015. They had five children along the way Danny (Vickie), Jean (Mike-deceased), Russell – deceased, Raymond – deceased, and Tina (Pat). Family was everything to Ione and she loved them deeply and passionately. She was always there with a smile, a hug, and a listening ear to anyone who needed it. Ione has 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and some great, great grandchildren. She also has many nieces and nephews who will miss her.
Ione believed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of which she was a member. It was the knowledge she had of the Plan of Salvation and knowing she would see her loved ones again that kept her going and gave her peace after losing Bennie and her two sons. Her faith and strength were an inspiration to her family as well as many that knew her.
Ione worked for many years and some of her jobs included Avon, working at the Base Exchange on Guam, and as an Attendant Counselor at Interlake School from 1968 to 1993. She retired from there after 25 years of service.
Ione loved to go camping and fishing, play board games, do Find-the-Word puzzles, read, and crochet. Ione loved dogs and they loved her! Ione loved to dress up for Halloween and had some of the funniest, best and most outlandish costumes you can imagine. She loved to have nice clean fun!!!! She loved to socialize and became one of the favorites at Windriver because she was friendly with everyone and was very independent and loved to be involved in all the activities.
Her services will be held February 11, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206. The services include a visitation from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, the service at 1:00 pm and a reception following the service.
