Dorothy Hermanne Meyers was born on February 23, 1934, in Portland, Oregon, to Herman and Rachel (Sparhawk) Meyers. She was the firstborn child of that union, with four siblings coming after her. She passed into the arms of her Lord & Savior on September 19, 2024.
Dottie married Lester Braithwait on May 17, 1952, and they had three children, Michael, Patric, and Margaret. They moved to the Spokane area in 1973. Dottie was a teacher and had earned a degree in English, as well as an M.A. in history. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution for 40 years and was active in the Eastern Washington Genealogical Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers – George, William, and John (known as Jack). She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Lester Braithwait. Other survivors include her children Michael (Carol Lee) of Vancouver, Washington; Patric (Janelle) of Spokane Valley, Washington; and Margaret (Walt Emry) of Newport, Arkansas. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2.78 great great-grandchildren.
