David M. Schmidt, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on April 17, 2024. He was born on April 22, 1939 to Milton and Annie Schmidt in Spokane, WA, where he was raised and lived a fulfilling life.
Throughout his life, David was deeply committed to his faith. He was a dedicated elder of Greenacres Christian Fellowship for over 80 years. The church is where he shared his passion for music by playing the French horn and imparted wisdom through teaching Sunday school and leading Bible studies.
On July 17, 1971, David married the love of his life, Judy. From that day forward, he embraced the role of devoted husband and father with unwavering love and dedication.
Professionally, David was a real estate agent, worked for Columbia Lighting and Joel’s Furnishing. He also dedicated over 25 years of his career to serving as an accountant for the Spokesman Review newspaper, where he demonstrated diligence and integrity in his work.
In his leisure time, David found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He looked forward to coming home in the evenings to watch a good Mariners baseball game or Sunday afternoon football. However, his true passion lay in tackling challenging crossword puzzles, a hobby that brought him both relaxation and mental stimulation.
David’s legacy lives on through his three children, Kendra Starkey, Shelly Dehn and Tiffany Schmidt, along with his seven grandchildren, Jaedyn, McCoy, Aspen, Connor, Garrett, Tracen, and Kyden. He leaves behind many memories and lessons that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM. The service will be held at Thornhill Valley Chapel located at 1400 S. Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA. Prior to the service, there will be a viewing starting at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow the celebration of life at Pines Cemetery.
