After a long battle of lung cancer, “Cheri”, Cheryl Ann Thompson concluded a life well lived in the morning hours of Nov. 7, 2022. Cheri was born on January 25, 1956 in Long Beach, CA to Albert and Patricia Plumb.
Albert and Patricia moved to Spokane during Cheri’s junior high school years. Cheri graduated from Rogers High School in 1974 and proceeded to marry Ron Overly and had two daughters, Christina and Dawn. After separation of their marriage, they always put their daughter’s needs first spending all holidays together as a family. Cheri then found the love of her life, Jim Thompson. They spent 35 years together until Jim preceded her in death October 22, 2019.
Jim worked two jobs so Cheri could stay home to raise her girls. Cheri enjoyed her time with her Mom and friends at Newberry’s. When her daughters were in Jr. High school she began to work at Valley Password as an operator for over 25 years.
Cheri and Jim loved their time together playing pinochle and going to the casino. Their marriage was one of a kind. Cheri’s daughters blessed her with three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her family will remember their Mom, Grammy, Sister, Aunt, and friend as a loving, caring, and self-sacrificing woman who loved her family and treasured her time with the family.
Cheri is survived by her two daughters, Christina Overly and Dawn Baer, son-in-law Nick Baer, grandchildren Alora Witcher, Tanner Hynes, Hailey Perala, bonus grandchild Alora Baer and great grandchild Everlee Dawn and bonus great grandchild Rylee, brother-in-law Larry, niece Sam, nephew Chad, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Thompson, her parents Albert and Patricia Plumb, sister Debbie Ripley and all the friends she lost along the way.
Cheri’s family invites you to please join them in celebrating her life on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA
