Born May 18th, 1934 at Malad City, Idaho, the 4th child of Leonard Stephen Castleton and Sarah Mae Watkins Castleton.
Married Harold Arthur Kunz, February 19th, 1953 and sealed for eternity in the Logan LDS Temple, Logan, Utah. Harold and Barbara lived in several places while he served in the U.S. Air Force including California, Colorado and Arizona. They then moved to Bern, Idaho while Harold helped his father run the ranch. All 6 of their children were born at Montpelier, Idaho.
They with their children have lived in Bern, Idaho, Preston, Idaho, American Falls, Idaho, Salt Lake City, Utah and eventually made their permanent home in Spokane, Washington.
Barbara was a very dedicated servant of The Lord and held many callings in the LDS church, including Relief Society President several times, Young Women’s leader, Primary and Scout leader. She served diligently and touched many lives. She was a talented poet and musician and wrote many beautiful songs and poems. Barbara loved to share her poems and music and would play her 4-string guitar while she sang. She was active in sports since childhood and missed having the physical ability to “play” in her later years. She had a fun-loving spirit and a positive attitude and was loved by all who met her. Barbara became a nurse when she was in her 40’s and worked for many years at the Spokane Valley Hospital where she was loved by all she cared for.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother, a granddaughter, a great grandson and a great granddaughter as well as her brother-in-law.
Survived by her husband Harold of 68 years (Spokane, WA), brother Gerald (Jan) Castleton of West Bountiful, Utah, brother Niel (Diane) Castleton, Pocatello, Idaho, Sister-in-law Janet Colibert, sister-in-law Harriet (Donald) Tippetts, Midvale, UT.
Survived by her children Toni (Ken) Hakes, Hurricane, UT, Chris (Sylvia) Kunz, Spokane, WA., Juli (Randy) Call, Riverton, UT, Lori (Dean) Lowe, Spokane, WA, Ami (Dan) Pfeiffer, Spokane, WA, Matthew (Arah) Kunz, Saratoga Springs, UT.
Also survived by 23 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday March 27th, 2021 at the LDS Foothills Chapel, 5322 North Evergreen Road, Spokane, WA. There will no visitation.
