Age 83
Barbara passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2013 due to complications from surgery. She was born in Spokane, Washington to Walter and Isabelle Henderson on October 6, 1929. She attended Wilson Elementary and Lewis & Clark High School, where she was a cheerleader and played on the golf team. Barb graduated from Eastern Washington State College with a degree in Education. While working at the Crescent during Christmas break she met a fellow future teacher named Jim Berry and they were married December 26, 1951 during a record-breaking snow storm. Barb loved being a wife and mother, gardening, reading, painting and summers at the lake. She had a wonderful sense of humor and kept us all in stitches. She was a long time member of Opportunity Presbyterian Church and Chapter R, P.E.O. Barbara is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, James W. Berry; children Katherine Smith (Darrell), Luanne Niggemyer (Ken) and Bruce Berry (Kris); grandchildren James Berry, Travis Berry (Tamara), Melinda Smith, Carl Niggemyer (Lise), Emily Smith and Beth Niggemyer; great-grandchild Amelia Berry; brother William Henderson (Darleen) and his family. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 14, 11:00 a.m. at Opportunity Presbyterian Church.
