SPARTA, NJ- William “Barry” Ward, after a short battle with cancer, died December 21, 2015. Barry loved his family including his three children and their spouses; and his five grandchildren. He also was devoted to his wife for fifty-three years. He had a contagious laugh and was very “down to earth.” Barry was born in Schenectady, NY, graduated from Siena College in 1960 and was commissioned in the United States Army as an Artillery Officer. He retired from the Army in 1988 at the rank of Colonel and his last job was Chief of Staff at Picatinny Arsenal. In his second career, he worked for two government contracting companies and a tele-communication company. Barry is a communicant of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Sparta, and a Fourth Degree Knight in the #588 Marquette Council, Sparta, Knights of Columbus. Surviving him is his wife, Kathleen (White) Ward, His brother, John “Jock” Ward and his wife Sandy. Loving sons; Terry and his wife Sheila of Ocoee, FL, Mark and his wife Kate of Needham, MA, and his loving daughter, Kelley Kisatsky and her husband Ken of Ledgewood, NJ. Five grandchildren, Katherine, Grace and Gregory Ward, and Anna and William Kisatsky. Friends and family are invited Sunday, 2~4 & 7~9pm to Goble Funeral Home 22 Main Street Sparta, NJ 07871. A 10 am Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday from Our Lady of the Lake RC Church 294 Newton- Sparta Rd, Sparta. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
