William C. Schmitt, 68, of Sparta, NJ, died at his home on August 25, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved son of the late William F. and Katherine R. Schmitt. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Resident of Lake Mohawk, Sparta, NJ for many years. Graduate of Xaverian HS and Brooklyn College. Lifetime member of Knights of Columbus #497. Bill served in the US Army, 7th Calvary, on the DMZ in Korea. He worked for the Port Authority of NY & NJ for 33 years, where he was an international runway manager. Bill was cherished by many friends and neighbors. He is survived by his loving family; Bob, Mary, Dan, Eileen, John, and Donna Luby, Jeanmarie and Mike Cranston and Judy and Darryl Kreitman. Friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be held 10am Friday at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 297 Sparta Ave, Sparta, NJ.
