Denny was born July 10,1939 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late James Russell and Eleanor Martha Gibson.
After serving in the Navy, he attended both Rider college and Temple University. He worked as a salesman for several large electronics companies. A loving father and avid golfer, he became a beloved little league coach. He was also an animal lover who helped his daughters rescue injured animals. Further, he participated in the Sparta Senior Olympics.
He was the first kid ever to hit the ball in the newly established Little League in Hamilton Township, NJ. Apparently it was a big deal, for a 9 year old in 1948. And, President Nixon taught him how to throw a screwball.
Beside his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, William “Dude” Gibson and his son-in-law, James Broyles. He is survived by his wife, Sue, of 62 years, his daughters, Lori Regula and her husband Mike, and Sheri Gibson-Broyles; His grandsons Ryan, Micky, James and Adam; his granddaughter Amanda, his great-grand children Anabell and Tristin, his two brothers James Russell, Jr and Kim Richard.
At Denny’s request, there will be no funeral. Funeral arrangements are entrusted under Goble Funeral Home 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. Cremation will be private. Friends are invited to call at the family home on Monday the 20th, from 1 to 4pm.
