William G. Davis

Born in Jersey City to Walter and Gertrude Davis nee (Sloan), he was a graduate of St. Peter’s Preparatory School (1953) and St. Peter’s College (1957). He served his country in the Reserve of the US Army from 1958-63.

Mr. Davis was a retired Vice President of Willis Corroon, New York and Director of Claims and Safety, for RJR Nabisco. A former Corporate Claims Manager for W.R. Grace & Co., Colt Industries Inc. and Ingersoll Rand Co., he also worked for the St. Paul Insurance Co. and after retirement for the New Jersey Guaranty Association. He was a former member of the New York Road Runners Club, the Highpoint Harmonizers, the West Milford Township First Aid Squad, The National Council of Self-Insurers and Past President of the New Jersey Self- Insurers Association.

He was a communicant and Eucharist Minister at Blessed Kateri Tekawitha RC Church, a Trustee of the Pope John High School Educational Foundation Endowment, and volunteer for the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, and the Sparta Seniors.

Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Grace Davis nee

(Ruckersfeldt), a daughter; Jennifer, a grandson; Jacob Borchers, a brother Walter Davis and his wife Ann of Allenwood, NJ, sister’s; Gertrude McNeeley of New York City, Patricia Farrell and her husband Joseph of Union City, NJ, and his twin sister, Rosemary Cavaliere and her husband Joseph of Cherry Hill, NJ, and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his son; William A. Davis in 2001.

Family and friends are invited Wednesday 2~4 & 7~9 pm to Goble Funeral Home 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871. A 10:30 am funeral liturgy will be held Thursday at Blessed Kateri Tekawitha RC Church, Sparta, followed by interment in Sparta Cemetery.
