He was born in Orange, NJ on August 16, 1940. Bill spent his early childhood in an expansive extended family – cousins were next door, down the street or even in the same house. All his life, he loved regaling everyone with endless hysterical stories of “the cousin capers” - delivered in his dramatic/poetic Irish storytelling style. His time at Bayley-Ellard High School in Madison, NJ was the turning point in his life. It was here that he asked the friendly petite sophomore, Sharon, to his junior prom. Bill and Sharon married on February 6, 1965 in Madison and spent the next 59 years together – 69 years total.
In the ensuing decades, so much life was lived with his Catholic faith and his family being front and center. He faithfully attended the parishes of Our Lady of the Lake and St. Kateri Tekakwitha, both in Sparta, for nearly 50 years. The late 50’s and early 60’s saw him graduate from Parsons College in Iowa and serve in the Army, being honorably discharged in March of 1969. Between 1968 and 1979, Bill proudly became a father four times over and worked non-stop to provide for the pride and joy that was his family. Early tremendous success at Honeywell by age 34 allowed for an once-in-a-lifetime 3 month long road trip (unheard of, these days!) across America in 1974, aka the Big Trip – with Sharon, three kids, a dog and an RV. They hit every state except Alaska and Hawaii. It may have been then - reflecting, as those unending miles spun away under the tires of the RV as he literally drove towards his future, that he decided that he would never again work for someone other than himself. The 70’s and 80’s were witness to his doggedness in making that dream come true. In fits and starts at first, with little companies here and there, he finally hit full throttle with his life’s work, C-Tech Associates, Inc. It was this company that brought the hard-working Irishman to his pinnacle – being invited to the White House as part of a Made in America event. The little company that he started under the basement stairs was now being recognized by the United States of America. For a truly patriotic American such as Bill, it couldn’t get any better.
That accomplishment is eclipsed by only one thing – his family. The home that he and Sharon made at 276 Stanhope Road is his legacy to the importance of family. It was, and is, in that house that all gathered together to celebrate birthdays, graduations, and weddings; to welcome new babies; have innumerable summer barbeques; and to unfailingly observe religious holidays.
Bill is survived by his wife Sharon and children Michael (Janeen), Kimberly, Scott (Megan), and David (Dina); grandchildren Kateri, Scottie, Jamie, Connor, Ivy, Samantha, Cora, Ella, Daniella, Adria, Dylan; great granddaughter, Harlee. He is also survived by his sister Jane; nieces and nephews Michael John, Peter, Jennifer and Mary, their spouses and children. He was predeceased by his parents, William & Mary Brady.
