Maureen Lynne McDonald

Maureen Lynne McDonald (nee Crawford) passed away at home on October 12, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. Lynne was born in Jersey City, NJ on August 8, 1946 to the late Thomas and Edna (Farmer) Crawford. Lynne was raised in Bayonne and Jersey City, and lived in parts of Bergen County before moving to Hopatcong in 1974 and then to Hamburg in 2016.

Lynne worked for Prudential Financial for 34 years in their Florham Park, Livingston, and Newark offices, where she helped to develop and manage new products and services. She retired in 2007 as a Vice President. Lynne was an active member of St. Jude RC Church in Hopatcong for more than 40 years, serving the Church in many capacities, including as a Lector, a Eucharistic Minister, and as a member of the Church Finance Committee.

Lynne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a caring friend. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her role as Nana to her four beloved grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or personal milestone, and always sent the perfect card for the occasion. She touched many lives with her strength, kindness and generosity of spirit.

Lynne is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Walter McDonald, her daughter Megan Brown and husband, Garrick, of Sparta, NJ, and her four grandchildren, Holden, Amelia, Emerson and Adeline. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Cronin and husband, Brian, of Westminster, MD; her brothers-in-law Patrick McDonald and wife, Theresa, of North Arlington, NJ and James McDonald and wife, Roseanne, of Somerset, NJ; ten nieces and nephews; thirteen great nieces and great nephews; and many cherished friends.

Lynne was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Thomas Crawford and Janet Crawford; her nephew, Vincent Crawford; her mother-in-law, Theresa McDonald; and her aunt, Irene Podgorski.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 2 – 4PM & 7 – 9PM at Goble Funeral Home 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 10:30AM at St. Jude R.C. Church 40 Maxim Dr., Hopatcong, NJ 07843. Cremation will be held privately.
