Matthew John Lanigan

He was born in Danbury, Connecticut in 1985, moved to Lake Mohawk, Sparta NJ in 1993, and was a 2003 graduate of Sparta High School. Following high school, Matthew went on to York College where he graduated in 2008 with a Business degree. Throughout his adolescent and young adult years, Matt devoted his time as a lifeguard and water director for the Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta. He was also a life time member of the Sparta Ambulance Squad where he dedicated his time volunteering. Matt worked at St. Clare’s Health System in Dover as an EMT as well as at Northern Eagle Beverage in Carlsdadt as a sale representative up until he got sick.

Matthew is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Nick and Rosemary Juisto, his paternal grandparents Jack and Flo Lanigan, paternal Uncle George and maternal uncle Nicky. He is survived by his devoted parents, Dawn and Jay Lanigan; his loving sister Cara DeStefano and her husband Jim, and his first niece set to arrive in the coming weeks, and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday December 14, 2018 from 4-8PM at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ. A prayer service will be held on Saturday at the funeral home at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Matthew’s memory to: Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
