She was born in Pittsburgh PA, the only child of Joseph and Catherine Metcalf.
She earned her bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University where she met the love of her life, Edward L Clark whom she was happily married to for 68 years. They settled in Pittsford NY where they raised their 4 children and supported them in all their endeavors including happily supporting her daughters in girl scouts as a troop leader.
MaryLou enjoyed life to the fullest, throwing annual Christmas parties, Halloween parties and entertaining many friends with frequent dinner parties. She was a wonderful cook and shared that skill with her children as they grew up. She and Ned enjoyed many years of camping & boating on the St Lawrence River in the summer and snow skiing in the winter with the entire family. They traveled extensively oftentimes on cruises to the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Alaska. She loved to travel and so enjoyed giving family fashion shows of the unique clothes acquired during those travels. She had a passion for playing bridge with her friends and was an avid tennis player.
Along with being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Monroe Tractor, Inc. in Henrietta NY. MaryLou was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority holding the position of president which provided her the opportunity to have a girl’s vacation with the Sorority Sisterhood in California.
After retirement they moved to Palm Coast, FL where they enjoyed 26 years of sunshine with family and friends. They were members of the Elks Club and Irish Social Club where she held several different board positions at each.
MaryLou was predeceased by her parents and Edward, her husband. Those left living to honor and lovingly remember her life are her 4 children Gary (Ann Moseley) Clark of Ridgefield, CT; Gregory (Denise) Clark of Catasauqua, PA; Karen (Joe) Luciano of Sparta, NJ and Kimberly (Todd) Kelso of Queensbury, NY; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Nancy Jaeger from England and her beloved dog Lila.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted under Goble Funeral Home 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10AM on Wednesday, September 6th, at Saint Kateri Church, 427 Stanhope Road, Sparta, NJ 07871.
