Joseph Kovacs

Joseph was born in Hungary, raised in Germany, and came to the United States as a 17 year old. He lived in Garfield before moving to Towaco where he lived for 35 years before moving to Andover 13 years ago. Joseph was a proud member of the United States Army serving from 1958-1960. He worked his whole life as a self-employed builder, retiring at the age of 70. He loved working in the great outdoors. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Erika (Mancz) Kovacs; devoted father of Christine Weiss and her husband Henry and Robert Kovacs and his wife Christine. Beloved grandfather of Eric, Rachel, Kyle, Matthew, and Amanda and brother of Teresa, Elizabeth, Siegfried and the late Stefan. Friends may call Monday, May 7, 2018 from 4-8pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be held at 10am Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Sparta Ave, Sparta, NJ. Entombment will follow at Newton Cemetery Mausoleum.
