John Joseph Mahoney

John Joseph Mahoney, 75, of Oak Ridge, NJ passed away on March 17, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived in Oak Ridge for the past 44 years. He was a Navy Veteran serving on the USS Intrepid as part of the US Naval blockade of Cuba and during Apollo moon missions retrieving astronauts returning to earth. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Gloria Sumpman Mahoney; devoted daughters Sharon Grella and her husband Fred of Rockaway, NJ and Allison Sidoli and her husband Rich of Byram, NJ. He is also survived by his sister Muriel Coyle and grandchildren, Erica Linnea and Derrick John Sidoli. Friends may call Friday, March 18, 2016 from 4-8pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral service will be held at 12noon Saturday at Sparta United Methodist Church, 71 Sparta Ave, Sparta, NJ.
