Jane was born on December 13, 1961 in Passaic, NJ. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard (Rick) Wells, and her parents, Walter Harrison and Stella (nee Patierno) Harrison. She is survived by her loving children Alex Wells (Elise) and Madison Wells. She is also survived by her siblings, Walter Harrison (Katie), Tracy Harrison Leifer (John) and Mitchell Harrison (Janine) and her sisters-in law Zoe Wells and Joan Datz (Bob). Jane had many nephews and nieces who will miss her greatly.
Jane grew up in Pompton Lakes NJ and graduated from Pompton Lakes High School in 1979. While there, Jane was active in color guard and was a member of the Drama Club and performed in a number of stage productions. Following high school, Jane obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mathematics at William Paterson University. She then went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Computer Science at Stevens Institute of Technology. It was through this education that she was able to pursue a career at Lucent Technologies. This is where she met her future husband Rick.
Jane and Rick were married March 24, 1989. They created a rich tapestry of life together, building a loving family. They maintained a beautiful marriage for 13 years before the untimely passing of Rick on December 21, 2002. In the years leading to Rick’s death Jane displayed an overwhelming capacity for love and dedication as she balanced caring for her husband while still raising her two children.
Jane instilled a love of the outdoors and adventure in her children through camping, hiking, a memorable covered wagon journey across South Dakota and annual family fishing trips to Ontario each summer. Jane had a lifelong love of music and was a member of a choral group as an adult. As her son and daughter grew, she always found time to let her interests shine whether she was singing her children to sleep, helping them with their math homework or harmonizing to the radio on family road trips.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta NJ 07871. The family will speak at 1PM.
Donations in Jane’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Association of America.
