James N. Costello

Jim was born in New York City on April 19, 1963. He was raised in Massapequa, NY and Sparta, NJ. He graduated from Pope John XXIII High School and earned a BS in Finance from Fairfield University. In 2010, Jim graduated from New York Law School.

In 1986 he joined the Fire Department of New York City. He was assigned to Engine 54 and Ladder 4 in Midtown, Manhattan. That is the same company his firefighter father served at till 1983. Jim retired on June 15, 2014 as a Battalion Chief after 28 years on the job. He was an avid Giants and Mets fan.

Jim is predeceased by his beloved father, James E. Costello who passed away on March 13, 2015. He is survived by his mother Joan Spellman Costello, sisters Mary Costello, Ann Lazar, Kathleen Patire (Angelo) and brother Timothy Costello (Anita). Loving uncle of Jacob, Ryan, Kate and Aiden Lazar and Courtney, Liam and Declan McHale and his dog Ferris. Also, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd RC Church, 48 Tranquility Road, Rt. 517, Andover, NJ 07821 on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, 2-4pm

& 7-9pm. Funeral Mass Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 10:30am, Good Shepherd RC Church. Interment to follow at Sparta Cemetery, Sparta, NJ.
