Eleanore G. Groh, 98, passed away at Christian Health Care Center in Wychoff, NJ on September 15, 2012. Eleanore was born in Queens, New York and lived in Teaneck, NJ before moving to Sparta 50 years ago. She enjoyed many years of golf and bridge at Ridgewood Country Club, Lake Mohawk Country Club where she was a member for 25 years, and Delray Dunes Country Club in FL. She loved to compete and was proud she could still play 18 holes of golf in her later years. She devoted many years of volunteering at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Sparta, where she was a member for 50 years; raising money for the poor with a thrift shop she established and ran in Franklin, NJ. She was creative and talented and touched the lives of many people. Eleanore is predeceased by her beloved husband John J. Groh Jr. She is survived by her devoted children: Jack Groh and his wife Kathie; Elaine Mulligan and her husband Robert; and Barry Groh and his wife Marjorie. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: John and Tom Groh, Susan Blezow, Christopher Cornell, Melissa Hartigan, and Kelly and Courtney Groh and 9 great grandchildren. Friends may call Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 1-4pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Sparta Ave., Sparta, NJ. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to your favorite charity.
