Born and raised in Linden, Mr. Wallace was the son of the late Michael Valichnac and the late Mary (Kauchak) Valichnac. He was the devoted husband of the late Helen P. (Paytas) Wallace, to whom he was married for 46 years, and the loving father of Cheryl Anne Wallace of Hamburg, NJ, and Edward Glenn Wallace of Union, NJ. He was the cherished brother of the late Marie Wallace Kuhn, the late John Wallace, and the late Michael Wallace.
Ed graduated from Linden High School and proudly served his country as an Army infantryman from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. He enjoyed a 27-year career at Weston Instruments in Newark, New Jersey, beginning as a systems analyst and working on computer systems as they were developed. His affinity for numbers remained with him during his retirement, when he avidly followed the stock market and enjoyed tracking the NJ Lottery.
A devoted family man, Ed truly loved spending time with Helen and their children. Weekend drives down the shore and summer road trips to Florida, and across the country to Tennessee and Utah were cherished times for the whole family, and later, Ed dedicated himself to Helen’s care. His favorite pastimes included working on cars, listening to music, and enthusiastically following his beloved sports teams, the NY Giants and the NY Rangers.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, June 1, from 4pm – 7pm at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ, and his Funeral Mass on Friday, June 2, at 11:00am at Saint Kateri Parish, 427 Stanhope Road, Sparta, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
