David A. Peach, 66, of Wantage, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2015 at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice in Fredon with his family by his side. Born in Teaneck, he lived in Ridgefield Park and Westwood before moving to Wantage in 1986. He was a 1966 graduate of Ridgefield Park High School and received his Bachelor's degree from Jersey City State College.
He proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
David was a retired Captain of the Teaneck Fire Department where he served the township for 35 years before retiring in 2009. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1989, Teaneck Township Fire Sub Code Official in 1995, and promoted to Captain in 2001.
David was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta since 1989 where he was a Sunday Sexton, Deacon, Co-Director of the church bell choir and church staff member.
His son, William Peach, preceded him in death in 1995, his sister Elizabeth Morgen in 2010 and his mother, Grace Peach in 1995.
David is survived by his devoted daughter, Barbara L. Peach of Hackettstown; sister Irene Stepto and husband John of Honesdale, PA; brother James and wife Jill of Hamilton, NJ and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In addition, his former wife, Karen Mauro with whom he remained close friends.
Friends are welcome to visit on Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00, at the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, 32 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871, followed by a service on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00 also at the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in David's name to the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta. Interment will be private.
