Sparta- Cornelius F. Carmody went home to the Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Andover Acute Rehabilitation Center, in Andover, NJ. He was born in Providence, R.I. to Cornelius and Loretta (Lannon) Carmody, and resided in Whitestone and Bayside Queens, NY, prior to moving to Sparta 46 years ago. Cornelius was employed for 23 years as a custodian at Alpine School in Sparta where he was key in bringing the union in and retiring in 1991. He served his country proud during WW II, in the US. Army Intelligence, and was a communicant and usher for 45 years with Our Lady of the Lake RC Church in Sparta. Predeceasing him is his loving wife, Mary Louise Carmody in 2005. He is survived by two sons; James Steven Carmody of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Christopher Carmody and wife Vickie of Franklin, NJ. A daughter; Elizabeth Ann Thomas of Budd Lake, and grandchildren; Robert Michael Thomas, James Steven Carmody II, Laurie Miller, and Donna Stoll, and Sister; Eleanor Markowski of Whitestone, NY.
